What can we do to take care of our physical, mental, and emotional well-being down to the cellular and DNA level?
The brain can only facilitate healing when the nervous system shifts from stress to calm. New plasticity and pathways will develop when you achieve balance between body and mind. It is crucial to have knowledge and a holistic understanding of pain mechanisms, the brain, the nervous system, symptoms of chronic pain, and sympathetic activation. Understanding the importance of the parasympathetic nervous system, the enteric nervous system, the vagus nerve, the diaphragm muscle, and breathing is essential.
Mathilde Myklebust works as a specialized physiotherapist at the Pain Clinic of Drammen Hospital. She has advanced training in orthopedic manual therapy and a master's degree in sports medicine from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
Mathilde has extensive and varied experience working with people of all ages and focuses on seeing the whole person in relation to their environment. Her interest in the field of pain began early in her career when, as a newly graduated physiotherapist, she sought effective tools for managing complex pain patients. At that time, working in Stockholm, Mathilde began to explore the use of TENS and muscle stimulation with positive results, combined with her broad experience in trauma, cognitive therapy, and motivation.
She has worked with all types of patients but primarily focuses on musculoskeletal issues, women's health, stress management, and complex pain problems. In addition to clinical practice, Mathilde has conducted courses and lectures in the fields of pain management and women's health.
